Basic fax technology has inevitably evolved over last the few years, with many companies turning to Internet fax from their standard, traditional fax machine. Internet fax, or Fax over IP, is becoming increasingly popular for its ease of use and less time consuming capabilities, among other things. It essentially eliminates the frustration encountered upon receiving a busy signalwhen using your traditional fax system, and it comes at essentially no cost.

Recently, Davidson Consulting published its latest market research report on computer-based fax, predicting that the market will grow from $385 million in 2011 to $700 million in 2016 – a 12.1% CAGR (compound annual growth rate) – with Fax VoIP or FoIP being one of the main determinants for this fast growth.

The report is in total 95 pages long, covering all information related to the computer-fax market, production fax versus desktop fax usage, inbound routing methods used and environments to which fax servers interface.

The report additionally analyzes fax board use by FoIP versus TDM, and by how many boards were sold with fax servers and how many with Internet fax services.

The report further provides information about 44 fax server vendors and seven fax board vendors, offering market shares for fax servers, IP fax servers, production fax, regional fax servers, fax boards, fax boards in the US and Europe, and regional fax servers. The report also provides forecasts for 10 different aspects of the computer-based fax industry.
